Cheryl Hergert | Exelixis
With over 25 years of experience, Cheryl is familiar with product development for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and combination products. She has a Doctoral degree in Regulatory Science and a Master’s in Public Health. Her research interests focus on the use of EHR systems to drive innovation as well as the impact of privacy laws on patient data flow and accessibility. As Director of Clinical Data Privacy, Protection, and Transparency at Exelixis her work involves building a culture of privacy by design through awareness and governance.
Vandana Chawla | Crinetics Pharmaceuticals
Vandana is the Senior Director, R&D Counsel at Crinetics Pharmaceuticals, a company founded by a team of scientists with a track record of drug discovery and development. Crinetics is a company dedicated to creating important new therapeutic options for patients with endocrine diseases and endocrine-related tumors. Vandana is a Doctor of Law, with a Master in Public Health Policy & Epidemiology and she endorses a key role in the Data Privacy compliance of Crinetics Pharmaceutical since 3 years now.
Erich S. Huang | Verily
Erich is Head of Clinical Informatics at Verily (Alphabet’s precision healthcare division, formerly Google Health). Immediate past Chief Data Officer for Quality at Duke Health, and Co-Founder and immediate past Director of Duke Forge—Duke’s health data science initiative.
As a clinician data scientist, his job is to think about data, how we refine it into actionable information, and how to scientifically turn that information into generalizable knowledge. He wants to use data to create opportunities to think about health in new ways.
Avery Miles
Avery Miles joined MyData-Trust (MD-T) in 2024 as Deputy Director of US Operations and head of MD-T’s new office in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to joining MD-T, Avery served in a variety of in-house legal and privacy roles in the clinical trials, life sciences and healthcare sectors where he built and led global privacy programs for multinational organizations. Avery is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law (JD) and North Carolina-Chapel Hill (BA Spanish and English) and holds CIPP-E, CIPP-US and CIPM certifications from the IAPP.
Victoria Watts
Victoria is the Vice President of Privacy and Global Data Protection Officer for Premier Research, based out of the United Kingdom. She is responsible for overseeing Premier Research’s global data protection strategy and implementation to ensure compliance.
Lawyer with qualifications in data protection (Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) and Certified Information Privacy Professional with a focus in Europe (CIPP/E)), Victoria is an expert in interpreting the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as it relates to clinical research.
Victoria is also a key contributor and lead editor to the European CRO Federation (EUCROF) initiative to draft a GDPR Code of Conduct for the clinical research industry.
Andrew Del Gaizo
Andrew Del Gaizo is the Clinical Informatics Program Director of Rad AI. Andrew has a diverse work experience in the field of radiology. Andrew started their career as a Resident at Emory University Hospital in 2005. Andrew then worked as a Fellow at Mayo Clinic from 2010 to 2011. Following that, they joined Wake Forest Baptist Health where they served as an Assistant Professor from 2011 to 2022. During this time, they also held the position of Head of Clinical Operations at Enlitic from 2017 to 2021. In 2022, they took on the role of Clinical Operations Program Director at Rad AI and also became a Body Radiologist at Moffitt Cancer Center. Additionally, they have experience in government healthcare as Deputy Director of the National Teleradiology Program at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs since 2013.
Julie Liambotis
Creating awareness, communities and partnerships is one of the best quality of Julie. She values and builds strong authentic relationships with partners, colleagues, community influencers, and leadership teams. Her approach, informed by many years of clinical practice across all patient settings, is both empathetic and effective. She helps to identify market opportunities, create and implement innovative programs to increase brand awareness across communities of patients, consumers, and organizations.
Julie joined MyData-TRUST in 2022 and became U.S. Director and Certified DPO in 2023.
Stephen Toland
Attorney Stephen Toland is a certified information privacy professional (CIPP-US) who heads the Austin office of the FBFK law firm. As leader of the Data Privacy/Security and White Collar/Regulatory Law practice groups, Mr. Toland advises companies on data privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection matters related to legal compliance, risk mitigation, investigations, and data breach response.
As a board-certified expert in criminal law, Mr. Toland has extensive experience defending companies in response to federal and state regulatory inquiries and investigations.
Carole Klove
Carole serves as the Chief Nursing Officer and General Counsel of Elemeno Health. Carole graduated with a BSN at Duke University and has obtained a Doctor of law at Southwestern Law School. Carole currently has over 30 years of experience in healthcare as a nurse, attorney, consultant and executive. In 2020 she was recognized as the Distinguished Alumna of the Year from Duke University School of Nursing. With a passion for Health Care and Law, Carole has presented on regulatory issues including HITECH and HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, reimbursement, and clinical trials.
Erika Moncada
Erika holds a biotechnology engineering diploma and started her career at Nestlé in Mexico. Since August 2018, she’s been with MyData-TRUST, initially stepping in as a DPO in Belgium, mainly serving U.S. clients. Fluent in Spanish, French, and English, allowing her to communicate effectively across diverse cultures.
She played a pivotal role in the creation of this new entity, fully backed by the founders of MyData-TRUST for this venture. Together, they launched this new Mexican Entity in 2023. She put together her team in June 2023, leading them with enthusiasm, professionalism, and kindness.
Damien Mair
Damien is a successful leader with almost 20 years’ experience in the clinical trial industry. In 2020, Damien joined MyData-TRUST as a Certified Data Protection Officer (DPO), with extensive consulting experience within the Life Sciences (Pharma, Biotech, CRO, eHealth, etc.).
Damien is a subject Matter Expert (SME) in project management and process improvement for best practices. Utilizing Lean Six Sigma standards, he has led a number of high-profile initiatives, including system implementations, to successful completion at multiple organizations of differing sizes.
Anastassia Negrouk
Anastassia holds a master’s degree in Biology, with a concentration in cellular biology and biochemistry. In 2020, Anastassia joined MyData-Trust to bring her expertise to many clients in the Life Sciences.
With nearly 25 years of experience in clinical research, including 8 years as a Data Protection Officer (DPO), Anastassia Negrouk is an expert in navigating the complex landscape of regulations relevant to to the protection of personal data in the health and clinical research sectors. An excellent speaker, Anastassia frequently participates in international meetings and conferences in the domain.
